Sentry Phoenix Office Donates Furniture to Local Habitat for Humanity

Sentry Phoenix Community Association Managers and other staff members gave back to their community by donating furniture to the local Habitat for Humanity Re-Store organization.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps families in need by revitalizing communities, providing affordable housing, offering volunteer programs, re-storing and re-homing gently used furniture.

“Sentry recently acquired a smaller management company in the Valley and found that a local housing agency was in need of the gently used furniture that the office had.  Sentry wanted the furniture to go to good use, so we contacted the local Habitat for Humanity right away to donate it,” Barbara Dummitt, Vice President Sentry Phoenix Division explains.

After calling Habitat for Humanity, the organization sent out staff, along with a large truck to come and pick up the donated furniture.

“This furniture will bring years of comfort to a family in need.  This is just one way that at Sentry Management we are always trying to think of ways to give back to the Phoenix community,” said Barbara.

Habitat for Humanity is ranked among the top 10 of 1,300 affiliates nationally and has completed more than 1,100 homes to date in the metro Phoenix area. That’s over 1,000 families that the organization has provided affordable housing for to date.

Sentry Management has its own way of giving back to residents that live in a Sentry-managed community, through the Sentry Smiles program. Sentry, along with its employees donates a portion of their earnings to the program, that in turn is used to help residents that are in need.

To date, the program has assisted over 275 families in 14 different states across the United States. Over $100,000 has been donated in total since the origination of the program.
