The Value of Conducting a Board Strategy Session from Sentry Management

A strategy session is a great way to come together as a Board and have a dialogue over what each member deems critical to the success of the association, including values, issues and goals.  Once your ideas are set in place from a few great brainstorming sessions, your team can move on to creating a vision.

To set the vision for the community, ask questions as to what you want your community to represent. For example, one Board set the vision for their association “To Be the Gem” of the local area. The vision helped guide the goal and projects for the community to achieve its vision. You want to be sure that you are leveraging the strengths of your association as well as identifying the weaknesses.

Throughout this process your team will come across new opportunities or possible threats. Be mindful and have these discussions with your board to better understand how you want to move forward. Understanding the association’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats allows the Board to develop goals and plans that can truly address the needs of the community.

Implementing a plan takes time, but it all will start from a simple conversation. A conversation that will lead to a strategic planning process for your community to achieve whatever vision you have established for your community.
