Local Des Moines Community Managers Receive Advanced Condo/HOA Management Training

Des Moines HOA Training

Two local Community Association Managers from the Sentry office in Des Moines, IA are being provided the tools by Sentry Management to take continuing education classes with the goal of helping them earn their Certified Manager of Community Associations Designation (CMCA®).

“As an industry leader, Sentry recognizes the importance of providing opportunities for our employees to pursue training and continuing education that is specialized for our field of service. Especially here in Des Moines, where few community managers are formally trained in this industry,” explained Michelle Biggerstaff, Sentry Division Manager of Iowa.

The first course that the community managers, Jasmine Bustillos and Aimee Abbott will receive is called ‘Community Association Management 101’ offered through Adamen, Inc. a national consulting firm that specializes in community association management. This course is made up of 9 class sessions, separated into 3 different modules. Generally, this class encompasses a total of 8 hours.

The second course is titled ‘M-100 Essentials of Community Association Management’. This course is offered through the Community Associations Institute (CAI). This is a 2.5-day class and is the first step to earning the Certified Manager of Community Associations Designation (CMCA®) that is bestowed by the Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB).

These courses cover crucial topics for Community Managers, like management ethics, effectively organizing and conducting board meetings, preparing budgets, funding reserves, evaluating risk management, and other topics.

Jasmine Bustillos has been working for Sentry as a Community Association Manager, and previously for Sue Clark Real Estate for a total of 3 years. Aimee Abbot has been working for Sentry/Sue Clark Real Estate as a Community Representative for a total of 3 years as well.

“The impact of this continuing education effort is three-fold: assisting our employees in achieving their career goals, building a team of well-informed and knowledgeable employees, and enhanced service to our client communities. It’s a win any way that you look at it,” said Michelle.
